“The Canyon” by Jerry D. Drew, circa 1922.
ckck:
There was no further description for this photo, but the pointed building looks like the Woolworth Building, which would place this photo in Lower Manhattan, New York City, on Broadway looking uptown.
In fact, it would’ve had to have been photographed right about here, at the north end of Bowling Green, where the then-existing streetcar tracks of the Broadway Line would’ve curved, just like in the photo.

West Park Hospital in Epsom, England.
(photo by Don Kiddick - pictured is the canteen)Opened in 1921, West Park Hospital was once one of the most important hospitals in the London suburbs. In the 1960’s it accommodated more than 2000 patients. The “Care in the Community” policy by Margaret Thatcher caused it to close down in the mid 1990’s, with several other English hospitals as patients were set free and allowed to go back home.
Today the hospital is popular amongst urban explorers, and unfortunately also vandals which is the reason the hospital theatre burned down in 2002. In 2006 efforts were made to make the abandoned site secure and alarm systems and CCTV were installed. Some parts of the buildings were demolished.
West Park Hospital has been featured before.
